Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
Before I read one comment on this Twitter video, I watched the video to see what would make a grown man strike a child or teen. What I saw was supposed to shock me, but it did not. I was not so much alarmed at the man punching the child since she kept charging him, as I was at the knowledge that he could have avoided having to defend himself from a mob mentality - had he simply stayed out of the fight between the kids and called security to handle the unruly crowd.
Yes, to me, it looks as if he did not mean to punch her, but acted on impulse and struck her back after she charged him for the 'THIRD TIME'. That punch is why he was arrested because she is so young. The man probably thought all of those 'CHILDREN' were going to gang up on him. Those are not small kids; they could have hurt him and his family.
Indeed, the teens are not innocent by any means in this incident, and they need to be harshly disciplined for the part each of them played this day to cause such trouble.
I know that groups of teens have been banned from many malls because of riotous behavior, and I agree with this method to control them. Some malls used to use blue lights to keep them calm (I don't know if any malls still use this method). I will take a moment from keying up this commentary to do a quick search to find out the answer to my question:
Well, I didn't find a single article regarding malls' use of blue lights! I don't know where or when I heard about blue light used to help calm the atmosphere for children in malls. I did; however, find a few articles about how 'blue lighting' helps many, such as people with autism and those who tend to be suicidal, to destress:
Can Blue-Colored Light Prevent Suicide? - Psych Central https://psychcentral.com/blog/can-blue-colored-light-prevent-suicide Since the railway company introduced the new blue lights, they’ve had no new suicide attempts. ... of pieces of data to prove blue has a calming effect upon people. ... behavior change ...
