This commentary is dedicated to all those who hate social media.
While some do not wish to be found, others welcome the idea. Such was the case with one of the two childhood friends Brianna and Heidi, Brianna (the one on the left in the above image) said she missed her childhood friend of one day whom she met on a cruise 12 years earlier, so she set out to look for her. Unfortunately, that was not going to be easy to do. Brianna started her search on Twitter. My guess is that she thought, most young people her age are on this social media site. She was wrong.
So, she took a different path and evoked help from the Twitter community. That surprisingly yielded quick results within a matter of hours. The reason Brianna didn't find Heidi on her own was because Heidi had not been on Twitter in many years, Heidi said.
Though you may still resist or may not have any desire to reopen your Twitter account and these friends haven't inspired you to get involved with social media, you have to agree, what happened to them was awesome, and, if it had not been for Twitter, they would never have reunited.
Still hate social media?
I can't imagine why, other then you become panicked about all the horror stories about sites like Facebook where people steal your identity and break into your home, etc. I know, I get your fears. What if I were to tell you that those fears can be eliminated almost entirely? All you need to know is, you must take at least an hour out of your day to set up privacy features on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media sites. Once you set, for example, friends (includes family) only in Facebook, you'll never have to worry about outsiders knowing any of your business. There have been many more stories similar to this one, so maybe it could happen for you. You'll find that long lost love, friend, parent, or pet. Be brave... Don't let the bad guys/gals keep you from enjoying what's left of your life - social media brings people together in ways old technology, like the telephone, ever could.
