Helena, Montana: Donald Trump Jr. helped Greg Gianforte campaign for the open U.S. seat. The two men targeted Montana's Republican voters this past Friday and Saturday.
Trump Jr. and Gianforte, a technology entrepreneur will go up against Democrat Rob Quist in the May 25 election for the seat vacated by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. Before they went on the campaign trail, they went prairie dog hunting. Gianforte had the following to say about the hunt, "As good Montanans, we want to show good hospitality to people," Gianforte said. "What can be more fun than to spend an afternoon shooting the little rodents?"
Trump is lending Gianforte some star power to fuel his campaign after Republican congressional candidates had close calls in special elections in Kansas and Georgia.
According to this Associated Press news article via Yahoo news, the other reason Montana gives the 'okay' for prairie dogs to be hunted almost to the point of concern because their numbers have
declined and disease have killed many of them: the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
The U.S. Humane Society says, but prairie dogs are not on the endangered species list, but they are important for the eco-system of the Great Plains.
Shall we keep being entertained by such despicable people who kill for sport? We must not put stories like this one in the news. I absorb others pain very easily, so, reading how someone thinks it's "Fun..." to kill prairie dogs is disheartening to say the least.
I wasn't able to find other yahoo article about hunting animals for sport, but I did find one about hunting humans for sport; which, to me, is way worse even if they're not going to be killed. For this story, click on the link in the 'Related Story...' section below:
The president's son, an avid hunter and angler who last visited Montana in November, is looking to shore up support from the hunting-friendly state after his father won Montana by 20 percentage points over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
