Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
A new Study (mentioned in the linked News Max article) finds that eating crunchy foods may help us lose excess weight by slowing down how fast and consequently, how much we eat!
I don't know if this (The Study) is such great news or not, for me that is, since I almost always have a lingering extra ten pounds to lose even though I am, and have always been, the slowest eater in my family! Despite this fact of mine, I have a little hope in this Study because I think if I try to include more crunchy foods like nuts in my diet, it may help me lose the extra weight. I already consume a lot of salad (this is a result of my being a vegan for a number of years; I do it out of habit).
The thing is, the (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition) Study tells us that "...eating ...crunchy ...foods would help slow down our eating by 20%!" Also, doing this would allow our food to help us feel full by causing our hunger to become "...satiety[ed] sooner" [while also reducing how much we eat and how many calories we consume], thus, helping us to lose weight. This last sentence is where, in this Study, I disagree with when it comes to me!
I am overcoming cancer:
Approximately six months before I was diagnosed in November 2022, I exercised quite often which helped keep my weight down (but not the ten extra pounds)! Since my cancer diagnoses, I lost weight after surgery and Radiation Therapy Treatments! I've since put back on the ten pounds and a few more (5 pounds) (December 2023) but I haven't started exercising again because of therapy side affects.
Funny thought time: "I wonder if I should eat chopped salad for breakfast - A true story, "Before I read this article, I was thinking about doing this since a family member left two bags of it (chopped salad) from our Christmas party!"" \(*u*)/ I do love salad!!!!
Another thing the study showed was that between the two study groups (Fast eating soft food studies and the crunchy food Slow eating ones), the slow eaters ate half as much food, therefore, they consumed way less calories. (News Max).I
The New York Post:
"...researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands discovered that people who had crunchier meals in their study consumed 26% fewer calories regardless if the food was highly processed or not since the texture made it harder to eat quickly."

Conclusion:
Personally, I am almost 100 percent sure that my lack of exercise is hindering my weigh loss. But, this doesn't matter or shouldn't matter to you unless you have a similar experience to mine. If this study sounds feasible to you, you should most definitely try it out! P.S., What they (This Study's Researchers) mean by crunchy foods are healthy nutritional foods and not chips or the like! Sorry to spoil your enthusiasm!!!!
