This news story focuses on the elderly in South Korea and that's good, but I would like to see more percentages from, this age range, across the globe. Why should elderly people be encouraged to socialize more. After all, how many horror stories have we heard about throughout decades and even centuries of how neglected and alone so many elderly people are. I understand that being able to hug and reach out and touch a person is more important than the Internet. I get and agree with this pertinent social matter. What I don't get is how so many elderly people are still so very much alone with no one to talk to (not even on the Internet because many of them do not know how to use a cell phone or computer to browse the net).
Now, elderly persons are breaking out those most modern cell phone/handy's (UK) and communicating up a storm all over the World Wide Web. Read about that in the, 'Related Video' section below:
I'm happy that S. Korean elder folks are making their voices known to their loved ones. They let them know, "We wanted to interact with you but we didn't know how to use modern communication technologies. Now we chat and video chat and text on our smartphones with our children and grandchildren alike."
I love how so many of them have even started their own online businesses. Social Media is great if used for the right things - Don't you agree that these are great uses for social media?
