I feel strongly about this incident where an unarmed person is shot dead! I understand that I am only seeing one side to the story; however, there was staff inside the shelter when the police shot this man who, by the way, was bringing in a stray cat.

I brought the shelter staff up in the prior sentence because I don't think this man's family would be suing the police department if they didn't have evidence (maybe via video footage?) to show their loved one's innocence compared to what the police said was his crime which warranted his being shot in the abdomen and dying from this injury!

Cops are being vilified all over the world, so that is the last thing I am doing right now.

I just wrote a commentary on another story earlier today! In that commentary, I was on the officer's side for using a controversial method to stop a man who was brandishing a knife in public.

I don't feel the officer did the right thing in this situation! She used lethal force to stop a man from talking loud! And she did that even though he'd already been tasered.

I don't think that there will be as much outrage behind this case, because, for one, this man is Caucasian - American society has become accustomed to protesting the many unarmed black males who've been shot and killed by cops, but the same isn't so for other races because, within each race, police have killed way more blacks than they have in white or any other races' communities! This is even though there are way more whites killed by the police in general - Blacks make up only 12 1/2 percent of the US population.

Regardless of race, something needs to be done to help police officers choose their weapon of choice to match the crime in progress.

I'm just saying... De-escalate...​
