Woman ran over teen says "because she is Mexican"

Franklin ran over a teen girl solely because the unnamed teen is Mexican. Thankfully the teen survived serious injuries all over her body. After she fled the scene, Franklin “ran the girl over” before she allegedly fled the scene. Authorities eventually identified the woman after asking for the public’s help, reviewing surveillance video, and speaking to the victim, Venema said.

Then, Franklin drove in a drunken state to a gas station where she blurted out derogatory remarks at other people inside the station. She also threw items at an attendant, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Des Moines Register." 

Questions to ponder:

- Should we expect more of similar incidents as the holidays approach, I wonder?

- Should this drunk driver go to prison and for how long?

- What would be your thoughts if the roles in this situation were reversed?

- Should the driver get a pass because alcoholism is a sickness?
