Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
Wow! This is a great idea since so many of us Americans and others around the world have been outraged about Monsanto's (the world's largest producer of GMO seeds) GMO crops that we've held numerous protests hoping to get them banned in the US. Many of those countries have won their fight and have banned GMO products.
Whether the fear of GMOs is real or not, the fact remains that many Americans view them as a danger to our health!
You see, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are seeds that have been modified by introducing DNA from other live things into the seeds' own DNA. There have been confirmed scientific reports that show laboratory mice (rats) have gotten cancer after consuming several GMO meals. Those reports are the main reasons so many Americans are leery of GMOs. Monsanto does this to make crops more durable and protected from bugs and pests amongst other helpful benefits.
Monsanto has finally done it! It's come up with an ingenious plan to edit the genome of seeds to achieve many of the benefits of GMOs but without widespread protest. This plan is called, 'Genetic Engineering'.
