I wrote another commentary on common fears that people have stemming from AI (Artificial Intelligence). Today, I will continue discussing those fears but with the help of experts in the field to help us all obtain a clearer understanding of AI.
According to Lili Cheng a corporate vice president of Microsoft AI & Research, humans use Artificial Intelligence in almost every daily task whether that task is at home, work, school, or play. For example, Cheng mentioned when your cell phone auto-corrects your grammar it is using Artificial Intelligence~ I love this feature and use it all the time.
Children are being schooled, at extremely early ages, on how to use robotics and other technologies. Kids as young a six-months-old know how to play games and select or work on a user interface on a tablet. Also, what truly amazes me is how tech savvy grade-school kids are - they're knowledgeable enough to teach their parents quite a few tech tricks that they've (the parents) tried diligently to figure out on their own. You have a computer question? Just ask your nearest 12-year-old for help.
After and while I read this article, I thought of the AI that I use most each day. Let's see, I use my computer about 85 percent of my day for work; which is nothing but artificial intelligence in a micro processor~ hahaha. I use my cell phone about five percent of my work day. And my tablet? Hardly ever, but I sure do use it when I'm out and about at Starbucks and my doctor's office. I watch Netflix while waiting to be seen. Lolssssss.
So you see, there's really nothing to be afraid of; uh well, I am still a bit leery about microchips turning me into a cyborg. :P
