This news article states that older people with low incomes living in high-cost cities will somehow be the biggest losers of the new GOP Healthcare Plan that replaces former President Obama's ACA (Medicaid expansion) insurance plan for low-income patients.
Oh sure they'll be the biggest losers; which sounds to me like there will be others who will be big losers but just not as big as low-income elderly.
Here is some of that information:
Those individuals whose income is less than $75,000 will receive a tax credit (Continue Reading about this tax credit @npr.org) to help them buy health insurance. This credit will be considerably less than the amount this same person received via Obama's ACA.
Additionally, the GOP made sure healthcare is given back to the states and each state given a Medicaid per capita Allotment. Those states would only be allowed enough money for those who qualify to receive health insurance assistance. Unlike before when with financial help from the federal gov., Medicaid spending got out of hand costing taxpayers and the Federal Government billions of dollars.
HOWEVER, according to an article on dallaselderlawyer.com, with this new health plan, quite a lot of people will be without quality health insurance. Because this Medicaid Allotment plan will save the government $1 trillion over the next ten years, one would think this would be a welcome plan for those affected by it. Nope! That's far from what this health plan will do!
Married couples will be affected by this new health plan because the tax incentive to stay married will be cut - More divorces are sure to follow without it.
Lastly, two years from now, no one else will be allowed to enroll in Obamacare. And, those currently enrolled in it will be 'Grandfathered' into it.
