They call high schoolers 'The Parachute Generation'! I am not sure if this name is the official honored generational name given to specific age ranges e.g., X Generation, Millennials, or Baby Boomers. Anyhow, you get the picture - right?
What is interesting to me about this article is that it contradicts what Dr. Michio Kaku just said in his video that immigrants come here to the US to work as scientist, doctors, and other intellectuals attracting jobs because the citizens here are not bright enough or educated well enough - in so many words, our school system stinks- (Well, that's how I understood Dr. Kaku's innuendo- Watch his video HERE, you might get a different take on what he said) to work in those types of fields. I didn't say, in the above mentioned link to my commentary, what I am about to say right now, "I find Dr. Kaku's words inflammatory"! There I said it! And, now I feel better having got that off my mind.
I'll say this to Dr. Kaku if I ever get the chance, "I'll have you know that there are plenty of well educated brilliant Americans living in the United States and abroad who have worked, some still are working, in their chosen profession making great strides in helping America remain the number one super power of the world."
The second thing I'd say to him is this, I'd ask him a question. That question is this, "Do you realize that not all persons with high I.Q.s are immigrants?" I by no means am suggesting that immigrants haven't contributed greatness to the US; I would never utter such a lie!
Now back to this young man. This teen will join the many other Asian students going to school here and maybe he'll come to like being here and want to stay. That's perfectly alright for him to do so; however, I would never praise his efforts of achieving an education here in the states over praising the accomplishments of fellow citizens - I will never make erroneous statements that he, somehow, is smarter than other high school students because he isn't from America, that's what I feel Dr. Kaku has done.
He, if it applies to him, will receive well deserved honors just like the rest of the graduating students here in the US who have achieved educational success with honors!
