​This morning, bing.com showcased an image of the 'Field of Light at Sensario' for its search engine cover image. The striking image surprised me at first glance - I didn't know what to think of the flower shaped lights. My initial thought about the lovely lights was that they were weird glowing land algae (hahahaha). I know, right, like your eyes never translates what you first see - as something otherworldly \(~0~)/!

I was instantly mesmerized at the image of this field of lights, and, I didn't want to stop looking at them in order to go find out more about them. When I just about had enough time gazing at them, I went in search of more information to satisfy my curiosity. I had questions like, "Where is this field located?, and, Why was it created?, as well as, Who created it?" 

It turns out that a man named Bruce Munro in 1992 created what he called a sculpture and named it 'Field of Lights Sensario' (located in  Uluru/Ayer's Rock Paso Robles valley because he thought the landscape was energized and wanted to bring that energy to the forefront of the minds of those would-be visitors. And, he wanted to expand it over the large area to cause a spectacular scene - he wanted to make visitors to the site smile when they saw it.

Next, after my online quest for more info on this topic, I must go and see it for myself - one must not take others word for it. smile.

"The red desert had an incredible feeling of energy, ideas seemed to radiate from it along with the heat. "There was a charge in the air that gave me a very immediate feeling which I didn’t fully understand, the artist said, "It was a moment when I felt at one with the world....I recorded thoughts of creating a sculpture on a landscape scale, incongruous in size and location, and experienced by the transient visitors...I saw in my mind a landscape of illuminated stems that, like dormant seeds in a dry desert, quietly wait until darkness falls, under a blazing blanket of southern stars, to bloom with gentle rhythms of light." The Field of Light installation was one idea that landed in the artist's sketch book and refused to dislodge from his mind, until finally realized for the first time in 2004.'
