Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
I believe we've reached a point of no-return where it comes to 'church shootings' and 'concealed-carry nationwide laws.' In many states, there will be no turning back regarding those laws - Should US citizens be concerned some places of worship will have guns onsite?
Concealed-carry laws
Many worshippers have fought for at least a decade to keep guns out of churches and other places of worship. Now, laws have changed drastically to help improve the survival of mass/random shooting victims after the shooter is shot and wounded or killed, protesters have no choice but to go along with such laws. Many of them (protestors) protested guns in churches, etc., because the main idea of a place where they go to be at ease and practice their faith in peace would become the opposite. Who wants to feel anxiety while their eyes are closed knowing that people have guns which may accidentally or purposely be discharged and maim or kill a congregant(s)!
However in many states, those anti-conceal-carry protestors no longer have a voice to protest since laws are now in affect. They can't do anything about them. Maybe I shouldn't share my biased opinion on the subject, but, I'm over feeling scared about armed security at my place of worship. I started to feel more at ease about the guns in church after a sick evil young man named Delon Roof went to church where 9 black worshippers were having bible study and he ambushed in shot them to death in 2015. In 2017, it happened again but way more innocent lives were snatched away in the worst church shooting in US recorded history, by a deranged sociopath named David P. Kelley - see link below.
YET! Unlike former churches/synagogues/mosques shootings where lives were lost, the church in this linked news article was spared a large number of victims when the churche's security team intervened and killed the shooter. Great news!
