Warning! Some Topics Not Appropriate for Children (18 and older advised)!

Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
This video shows a teacher and a teen student disagreeing back and forth regarding the student's request to be addressed as 'they' or 'them' and not 'her' or 'she'!
This is how it 'ALL' began, 'The Big Debate!"
As I watched this drama unfold, I felt like I was right there waiting my turn to interject. I saw myself taking sides with two students. One of them started off telling the teacher that it wasn't going to end well arguing with the student over such a topic. The other student wanted to keep the class going instead of wasting time! I highly agree with the second student's opinion on the matter.
I'll start by going over what the first student, whom I agreed with, kept repeating: That person kept saying things like, "Just drop it! And, this won't end well!" I couldn't help but agree because I know how strict school rules are on this highly controversial topic. They tell teachers how they must address students by their preferred pronouns! This teacher clearly didn't follow the protocol but she told her student to do so. And, she (the teacher) could have continued teaching if she had simply called her (the student) by her last name (Parker), which the student brought up the suggestion and would have been okay with.
Let's move on...
As the video played on, I found myself agreeing more and more with the teacher and, for the most part, the other student I agreed with the most. That student wanted class to go on and wanted the dissenting student to comply with the teacher's class rules. That student also said the same thing as the teacher, which was (and still is) correct English language dictates that the pronouns, 'they' and 'them' are to be used when referring to more than one person!
I'm predicting that the teacher will not win this argument should the student take her to court since American schools are in a fight for survival against a not-so-silent threat! Teachers now have to remember to trick their minds when exercising their talent (teaching)! For example, the word 'he' is now they or them (depending on the class demographics)! So, teachers you better not make mistakes just because you're human! You'll be fighting a losing battle!
Summary,
For my Summary, I will ask you a few questions!:
1) Why are we 'NOW' expecting American teachers to change how the English Language is taught? I wonder if this teacher teaches English! If she does, that would be one reason she was adamant on her stance?
2) What do you think about this video?
3) How do you think this teacher should have handled this situation?
