Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
Who and where:
San Diego, CA: On Tuesday, May 2, 2017
49-year-old Peter Selis attended a birthday pool party at the La Jolla Crossroads Apartments. While there, he sat watching about a dozen other partygoers waiting for the right moment to whip out a pistol, aim, and then shoot unsuspecting targets.
What:
In this commentary I will highlight witnesses' statements to show what appeared, to them, they said, to be Selis' state of mind at the time of the shooting.
Survivors of the shooting said that Selis seemed relaxed while drinking a bear. All of a sudden, while still holding a beer in one hand, he started shooting with the other.
Those still present at the time of the shooting, who was shot, said that it seemed to them that Stelis (who's white) was shooting at blacks and Latinos and letting, and even telling, other white people if they wanted to live, they'd better leave right then.
A grieved survivor and witness' statement:
“As additional factors come in, we realize there are multiple components to this [why Selis shot people] problem, but we feel heartbreak in the fact that [police are] trying to dismiss a part of the motive,” said Navy Lt. j.g. Lauren Chapman, who attended the party.
When:
After the police arrived, reports state that Selis aimed his weapon at them and in return, they were forced to return fire killing him (Selis).
Why:
According to the LATimes, Selis had recently broken up with his girlfriend, and had money problems, amongst other troubles is why he chose to shoot innocent people.
Opinion:
Selis is another Steve Stephens, who was a coward for taking an innocent life because he was not brave enough to take his own life first.
