Listen & Study Services' Commentary:

The turtles (They are Terrapins and not really turtles) in the header used to be mine. Their names were, 'Night and Day!' I named them those names based on the main color of their shells which were dark green and light green. Day's main shell color was light green. Day bit me once and was a bit stand offish to say the least... but I still loved him...

As I write this, I'm saddened because I remembered how I  tried my best, for over four years, to keep them healthy and  alive. But all my effort to do this was for nothing when my favorite out of the two 'Night' passed away a few weeks after I started working double shifts and six days a week. I'm still so hurt! I didn't want the same fate for Day, so I released him into a nearby pond. 

Some of you may wonder why I had the turtles in the first place! I had always loved turtles (in this case they were Terrapins and not really turtles - Here in the United States we call all turtle-like beings turtles.) so the first chance I got, I sought out how to purchase tiny ones. They didn't have tiny turtles at any pet stores and a sells person at one store said pet stores weren't legally allowed to sell tiny turtles. Then she showed me two-year-old Terrapins. I declined to adopt them. Then she suggested going to China Town to get them.

It wasn't long after I arrived in China Town when I came across tiny Terrapins for sell. A man was walking around with them in small reptile Terrariums. I didn't have enough money to buy two which is what I really wanted, so, I asked where the nearest ATM was. After I got the cash, I went to look for the man but didn't find him. I started walking and looking in windows to see if I could spot any turtles. I was in luck. I noticed the Terrariums first and asked inside about their price for the Terrapins. I gasped at the thought of why a restaurant was selling them! (No one had to explain the reason to me!). I knew almost immediately the little ones were destined for somebody's dinner plate. 

It was that moment, in the restaurant. that I told myself that I was rescuing them... I was wrong... And, I'll never do this again... even though turtles, terrapins, and tortoises are my favorite animals. I want them to be free in the wild...
