For the life of me, I couldn't understand why violent criminals, such as the one in this Breaking911 news article, were treated much different than violent criminals as a whole. I wondered why illegal immigrants, whom ICE had arrested after acquiring legal detainers, were not held in custody but let go.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I read the truth about this matter.
I needed to know why! So I sought more information to what looked oddly like favoritism to me. During my search for a comprehensive explanation of what was at the helm of this egregious phenomenon, the truth blinded me in a flash of shocking truths.
It turns out that due to sanctuary city laws, illegal immigrants cannot be held in jail nor can they be questioned about their immigrant status unless they are suspects in a crime or had a prior deportation:
The term "Sanctuary City" refers to a city or state that enacts policies which are favorable to illegal immigrants. Specifically, "sanctuary" cities often mandate local laws which prevent inquiry into a person's immigration status, unless they are a suspect of crime or have been deported in the past.
