Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
I saw this coming way back in November 2016 during the elections after the news started reporting how several so-called political Republican states had many of their citizens (who voted for President Trump) complain in city halls that he was going to repeal Obamacare. Yikes! That wasn't supposed to happen.
Now, poor Republicans are inundating news threads telling anyone who'll listen, they don't want Obamacare repealed.
I read this article by Washington Post to find out why in the world would poor people be so quick to vote for a rich candidate who knows nothing about their plight! What I found out is that those poor citizens desperately hoped that the then presidential candidate Donald J. Trump would be able to bring jobs back to their town 'McDowell County, West Virginia. Yet, many of them are very ill and need medical attention now before they can go apply for work. What they failed to realize is that their vote for Trump was going to cost them dearly.
At present, many of McDowell County residents are on former President Obama's expanded Medicaid Health Plan titled, 'Affordable Care Act' (ACA). Before the ACA, many of those same residents did not receive medical care. One of those people was a 25-year-old (He is the Nurse Practitioner's, who is the health professional who was interviewed for this story, brother) who kept going to emergency room after emergency room seeking answers for persistent back and groin pain to no avail. The ER doctors sent him home and told him that they thought he wanted meds.
Her (the NP) brother found out finally what was wrong with him. It turns out that he had stage 5 kidney cancer and died shortly after the diagnoses.
This NP left to finish school and went back to a worn-down town to work once she graduated, she said.
