Another person has died after choking on a food that no one would think could be this deadly. The Denver, Colorado man was participating in a speed-eating contest to see how many donuts the winner of the contest could eat in a short time.

According to Mark Piggott, International Business Times, Travis Malouff, the 42-year-old man who choked to death in while attempting to devour a half-pound doughnut in an extreme-eating contest passed away on the same day as the 20-year-old Connecticut college student, Caitlyn Nelson, who fatally choked to death as she tried to speed-ate a pile of pancakes during a charity event.

The challenge sees participants try and eat a monster doughnut six times the normal size in under 80 seconds.

I suppose some people would not see the connection between this man who choked on a giant donut and the student who choked on normal sized pancakes, but I do. Both donuts and pancakes are soft going into your mouth, but after they mix with saliva, they both expand and start to reform into a dough like consistency making it difficult for air to pass around to go into ones air passage. To resolve this issue, one simply needs to drink water or milk to make the pancake/donut mushy enough to swallow easily (you're not swallowing a big chunk of near dry ingredients). 

It's too bad that both victims of this eating contest had way too much food in their mouths at once cutting off their air supply and consequently choking them to death.

I ask you all this one question, "Why do people have these food eating contest if there is even one chance the someone will die after choking on contest food?" I mean, 'Don't we value every life anylonger?" I even found postings of donut eating contest for children.

What are we thinking warning people that somebody is bound to lose his or her life in these silly contest, no one is listening. They are here to stay because they're national pass-times and are ingrained in the U.S. culture.
