The writer, 'Lucy Westcott' of this Newsweek article would like to see fewer corporal punishment executions. I can certainly understand her stance on the matter, but she didn't say what she thought should become of the inmates (mostly men) who'll remain on death row for decades racking up debt in the tens of millions of dollars. Should those death-row prisoners be allowed a stay of execution? There will be more money drained off taxpayers to support them.
Never Mind about the enormous debt, what about their victims? The law has condemned them to die, and now people like Westcott expect the families of victims to protest the legal killings of their loved ones' killers. I'll tell you what, Westcott and all others out there who feel adamant about saving people on death row, why don't you tell victims' families face-to-face how you truly feel.
Write a column in your newspaper and state that you feel that it's wrong to execute a family's daughter's rapist and killer. And, you believe it would be inhumane to take a life just because that person took your child's life. Don't forget to mention how sorry you are that that person murdered their baby, wife, husband, etc... Add that you don't think he deserves to die for his (her) crime though.
The seven Arkansas men due to be executed by lethal injection before the month ends, all within 10 days of each other, will receive a drug called, 'Midazolam' according to Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson who said the state’s supply of Midazolam, one of three drugs used for executions, is about to expire, writes Westcott.
I can't stand it when a monkey wrench is thrown into my fact-checking machine! Here it goes, Westcott is right about this, Hutchinson will be executing (I am not going to say murder because I don't believe they can be murdered - their victims were murdered) people(?) soon to use up execution medication? What the h*ll? That is unscrupulous of her to kill them under those conditions!!!
Maybe I should have named this commentary, 'When Killing Death-row Inmates Becomes A Snap and No Big Deal' no one cares anyway.
I don't really care what happens to killers, but I do care that I'm being told that it's alright to kill people just because it will be convenient.
No, I don't want to stop the executions of evil murderers, especially baby killers. If they are mentally ill, I do have a sense of compassion, I would want them executed.
