We're told all the time, "Don't get your dog from puppy meals or breeders because those people don't care about the dogs, they only care about making money off of selling them!" So you head on over to your local animals shelter to pick and adopt either 'Man's Best Friend' or to start your 'Crazy Cat Lady or Man Collection' only to find out you actually picked the wrong pet!

That's what, seems to me anyways, happened to this pet loving elderly lady. Believe it or not, she adopted the 1-year-old mastiff pup four years prior to him attacking her - The Animal Shelter has that she adopted him six years prior, but that would make the dog 5-years-old now. However, that's besides the point. This poor woman did the right thing and adopted a pet from the animal rescue people and he turned around and killed her years later.

I ask you, "How's a person to know they have a mentally ill dog on their hands?" According to this Yahoo article, just two-weeks before this pet owner's death she was contemplating (CONTEMPLATING) taking her mastiff back to the shelter where she adopted him from four years earlier.

Skip ahead two weeks before the mastiff attacks both his owner - she died from her injuries- and her autistic son who will survive - The mastiff attacked their neighbor's terrier reaping it to shreds and killing it - the terrier's owner couldn't save the terrier because the mastiff would have went after that person too.

We don't hear a lot about mastiffs attacking their owners, certainly no where near as much as we hear this news about pit bulls. As a matter of fact, I was rather surprised to hear that a mastiff was involved in such a violent attack on a human. 

When I think about this story, I think maybe I don't know much about the representation of this breed of dog. Or, is my above mentioned theory correct in that I think her dog was mentally ill since he snapped and killed her after four years!
