A young child was killed after a car parked in his grandfather's driveway rolled over him. He was hospitalized for a few days but never recovered from his injuries.
I am writing to in order to help spread the word that what happened to this little one was an horrific accident in hopes that no other parents will have to grieve over losing their child from a preventable tragedy like this one!
The grandfather wasn't charged for his grandson's death. Just to let you know. And, I don't think he should be.
Here's the problem I have with this situation, I can't understand or picture where the child was playing after the person who was selling the car to the grandfather. The news article says he was playing in the driveway behind the car! I'll save my 'Yikes!!!' until the end of this paragraph - after I give you the clincher... Here it is, "The car that was being shown had brake problems and so a brick was placed behind the back wheel." YIKES!!!
Unbelievable that this man thought a brick would be sufficient to stop a car from rolling down even the smallest of inclines.
This case, I'm assuming, has gone to court and it was deemed an accident, but I think that someone should be held liable, to some extent, for this child's untimely demise. Maybe the man selling the car should do community service for selling a car without brakes and then placing a brick behind the wheel, which in my opinion, was a pretty careless thing to do (I could see someone doing this if the driveway pavement was a completely flat surface).
On second thought, I don't think this case has gone to court because how could the judge not say something about the brick and the wheel? Why did authorities say no charges were filed against the grandfather or the man selling a car to him? Someone is responsible for this child dying...
I hope to gather more information regarding this terrible terrible tragedy.
