Listen & Study Services' Commentary:
CORRECTION: [This NATO Summit meeting took place in Brussels, Belgium]
The link to the video is short and lacks any informative incites into what was discussed at the meeting. Many comments on this Facebook video seem to suggest that US President Biden's 'handlers' did not allow him to say anything. I do not know if that is true.
What did get stuck on my mind was the abundant cloud of secrecy that loomed over the whole ordeal. So, if you know something about me by now, you know I went looking for answers. But, before I get to what information I found, I want to share with you what I knew already about Turkey and the United States' relations:
I knew that Turkey and the United states have had a long-time amicable relationship. That's it! I know, I really should keep up with political news more than I do.
Also, I knew about Turkey's bad reputation regarding Armenian genocide (took place in the late 1800's) of which Turkey called what happened something else like conflict killing or such. Turkey sounds like they are in complete denial!
As of late, our new president, President Joe Biden, announced to Turkey's president, 'Erdogan' that he considered what happened to the Armenians to be genocide.
Many people who commented in the Facebook comment section of this video said that they didn't know what the meeting was about. Well, I guess they are like me, "I get overwhelmed with politics and won't keep up with it!" Yet, if they do their due diligence, they would have realized that Turkey bought air defense systems named 's 400' from Russia in 2017 but received them in July 2020. This caused much concern to US President Trump. Turkey did this despite the fact that it (Turkey) and the US are allies but the US and Russia are not; nor is Russia a part of NATO after NATO decided to suspend its cooperation with it in 2014 (Read more about it).
What does NATO stand for?
NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance between countries in North America and Europe.
When was NATO formed?
NATO was formed following World War II. Its founding treaty was signed in Washington, D.C., in 1949 by a dozen European and North American countries.
Why was NATO formed?
The NATO alliance was formed to respond to the threat posed after the Second World War by the Soviet Union. NATO's purpose was to protect democratic nations against the spread of communism in Europe. NATO’s website states "It commits the Allies to democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law, as well as to peaceful resolution of disputes. Importantly, the treaty sets out the idea of collective defense, meaning that an attack against one Ally is considered an attack against all Allies."

Washington says the S-400s would compromise the defences of U.S. stealth F-35 jets if deployed alongside them. It has thrown Turkey off the F-35 programme, cancelled Ankara's order for 100 planes and seeks to replace Turkish firms that had been making jet parts. Turkey wants more than $1 billion compensation.
