Miami, Florida: Guess what? You probably could easily do so simply by reading the title, "Former officer charged with hitting kids with car, killing 1" and the mugshot image before you. Police said he was drunk at that time. 

What's odd about this terrible situation is that both the father of the child who called her daddy, for help after watching her friends get mowed down, and the man who ran over her friends are law enforcement; well, the drunk driver used to be an officer. 

The girl's father ran down the street shoeless to see what was wrong and found several injured kids spread out on the blacktop. The driver who hit them gets out of his car as if nothing bad happened. The officers who took his information and asked him to take a breathalyzer test said that he was rather "lighthearted" as he was being booked, that's until he heard that two children were in critical condition. Right then he tells them, "He said, if that's the case, put me under the jail," Judd said.

Time-and-time again, we have to keep hearing these horrid stories about selfish alcoholics who kill people with their cars. 

I must say, I am really surprised that this man's former employer didn't have anything bad to say about him except that he did drink a lot. Usually one hears the same-oh-same-oh stories about drunken violent outburst, domestic violence, or some other drunken activity the employee was often involved in.

Don't get me wrong, I in no way have any empathy for this guy, he killed an innocent child and maimed another one.

He had too much pride to seek professional help for his disease (Alcoholism).

If a person thinks he or she is leaning towards becoming an alcoholic, he or she should automatically see his/herself as an alcoholic and driving while drunk! That's right, they should role play in their heads! Seriously, they should visualize themselves running over an innocent person, being arrested, and finally, being sent to prison for murder!

Of course there is no way for me to know if my theory could work because I've never read how someone with an alcohol addiction did it and it worked for them.

I'd like think that it could work and be that easy! I'm afraid that that's how people would perceive my idea. But FYI, I'll have you know, it works for me whenever I think about turning to alcohol to ease my sorrows! I can count on both hands how many alcoholic drinks I've had in my life time.
