We were under attack! The whole 'Bombs Bursting in Air' thing from the 'Star Spangle Banner' song was playing out in full force last night. The M80s (tiny bombs!!!), from late evening to early morning, exploded and filled the night sky for miles.
As I laid in bed trying hard to drift off to sleep early (it was about 9 pm) so I could wake up early, I worried about my cat's nerves but had to close my bedroom door so she wouldn't keep jumping out of the window after being frightened by the firework noise. This year was the first one that I didn't even bother turning my lights out and opening my blinds to see the large fireworks in the night sky. I lost interest when someone kept setting off M80s near our building the day before the 4th of July.
Don't think that I was so nervous and jumpy every time an M80 went off, I didn't jump at all. My problem was after I fell asleep, And, since I am a light sleeper, I was afraid that I'd dream that we were being bombed. Kim Jong-un's recent shenanigans (he test-fired an intercontinental long-range missile) - played a big part in my concern about dreaming of being bombed - even though N. Korea's missiles can't reach this far West. You know how dreams are though, they are, many times, irrationally scary.
Also, besides wondering about my cat and all the other poor frightened pets out there in our community, I thought more about all the war veterans and Syrian and other refugees and how the effect fireworks were having on them. I'm guessing they all had a pretty rough night.
Lastly, many of those fireworks going off were gunshots considering 100 people were shot. What a most opportune time to shoot someone than on the 4th of July - People would think they were hearing fireworks.
Some gunshot victims were shot by people celebrating the 4th by shooting guns in the air. I guess the shooters never heard the saying, "What goes up, must come down!"
Get the details...
