Concerning 'Brain Farts'! ~~~

We all get them at least once in our lives. What are they? They are called, "Brain Farts"! But why are they called this when we know that the brain cannot produce an actual fart (pass gas).
So, how did we give this phenomena its name. No one really knows how this name came into existence. And,for the most part, that information wouldn't make a bit of difference in light of all the truly priceless adverse looks on the person who happens to be grace your presence when your brain decides to display one of these little buggers (oops,excuse me, 'little farts')!
Yeah, brain farts are funny and awkward at the same time. For example, when one gets one, immediately, he or she must pronounce it to all in the room! Why? hahahaha! I can't remember ever thinking, "Oh, your brain farted - that's too bad!" Nor, do I remember thinking to ask the person who just had the brain fart, "Details! Please!" Hehehe! Yet, I do remember the emotions and utter confusion the first time I'd heard this expression. I pictured that person's brain letting out a good old-fashioned 'Super Nova' of a fart! And then, I let out an almost embarrassing cackle of a laugh! I think I asked them what they meant by that statement!
