​Reid ​Hoffman, LinkedIn co-founder, decided to apologize (I guess to Moore), this past Wednesday, about his claim of inadvertent involvement and funding in a smear campaign against Moore via AET - American Engagement Technologies (I researched this company to no avail; I didn't find anything online about it - I had wondered why Hoffman employed - well, why he gave $750,000 to AET, according to WaPo, company in the first place). He said he funded AET to establish "Truth-focused discourse here in the United States.

That campaign, a digital one, was aimed at preventing Republican, Roy Moore from winning the 2017 Alabama Senate race. AET used fake conservatives to tell real Facebook conservative customers that Moore was being investigated for sexual misconduct after being accused by several women when they were teens. The youngest of the four teens was only 14-years-old at the time of the alleged assault; however, the Statute of Limitations ran out three years after that day.

Many people commented, in the Yahoo comment section, how Hoffman should face a judge for his involvement in this incident.  

The Story

LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman apologized Wednesday for financing a group tied to a misinformation campaign on Facebook and Twitter during the 2017 Alabama Senate race. In a post on Medium, Hoffman denied knowing American Engagement Technologies, the group he was funding, was leading a digital campaign to dissuade Alabama conservatives from voting for Republican nominee Roy Moore, who was accused of sexual misconduct by several women during the race.

AET stealthily financed a project where phony Facebook users pretended to convince fellow conservatives to not vote for Moore, according to The New York Times last week. “I categorically disavow the use of misinformation to sway an election,” Hoffman wrote. “In fact, I have deliberately funded multiple organizations trying to re-establish civic, truth-focused discourse in the US. I would not have knowingly funded a project planning to use such tactics, and would have refused to invest in any organization that I knew might conduct such a project.” Hoffman said the “most disturbing aspect” of the NYT report was the group creating fake Twitter accounts, doctored with Russian-sounding names, to follow Moore in a “false flag” attempt to discredit him. Hoffman — who said he was “embarrassed” by his “failure to track AET” — added “I do have an apology to make and have learned a lesson here.” A rep for Moore did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment. The Times’ report shined a light on how American political groups are leveraging tactics used by Russian trolls during the 2016 presidential election to target their adversaries. The Internet Research Agency, a Kremlin-tied troll network, has looked to manipulate credulous Instagram and Facebook users with bogus memes and news stories.

AET is led by Mikey Dickerson, a former Obama administration official who worked to ramp up the federal government’s adoption of new technology. Dickerson did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s for comment. He’s declined comment to The Times and The Washington Post. Hoffman, who has become a billionaire behind several shrewd Silicon Valley investments, gave $750,000 to AET, according to WaPo. In response to Donald Trump’s election win in 2016, Hoffman said in his blog post he’s since invested in dozens of organizations aiming to “accelerate positive change.” He said he’ll pay closer attention to where his money is going in the future.

​'Clean' Tumblr Is Back
​On Apple App Store

​​I couldn't put my finger on why Tumblr suddenly put an end to allowing its customers to post adult content on its platform.

As a matter of fact, I just found out, today, about the real reason behind the adult content ban. It seems Tumblr kept this news on the 'hush hush' as to not excite its customers into a flight freezy. I totally understand their concern! 

Once I read (today) how child porn made its way past Tumblr's filters and onto customer accounts, Tumblr's app was booted out of the Apple store, I was kind of angry that Tumblr wasn't more candid with us customers. 

After my stomach settled down, I thought about what I would do if I were Tumblr. Then I realized that Tumblr did the right thing by banning all adult content such as private parts (except nursing moms) and fixing the original problem (child porn) that got it banned from Apple.

There really isn't any reason for customers to know that some deviant customers were able to cause such turmoil within the company - Customers merely needed to know that all explicit material is forbidden.

That news (no more adult content) wasn't taken well by many of Tumblr's customers, so those who protested this ban have moved on to alternative sites - some folks vowed to take Tumblr down like MySpace for banning adult content because they feel their freedom of speech was what really was banned.

In November, Apple banned the text, video, and GIF sharing platform from its App Store over child pornography issues. Tumblr announced later that it would ban inappropriate content starting this year, The Verge reported.
In the recent months, Tumblr has adopted a stricter policy when it comes to allowing inappropriate content on its platform. Its ban on all adult content won’t be enacted until December 17, while the automatic filter for mature content will be the default option for users starting February next year. (ANI)

​Packers Assistant Coach 'Moss' Fired Over His Leadership Tweet

​It goes without saying but bares repeating, "Watch What You Post Online!" You must especially be careful if what you're about to post on a social media platform is something pertaining to your job. 

So sad, there has been a serge in employee firings in 2018 alone after an employee posted something that made the company they worked for look bad. 

I'll name a couple of those who got fired and what they did online that warranted their firings. 

I'll start with this Packer's assistant coach, 'Winston Moss' who disparaged the team's leadership in a Tweeter Tweet. That was a big, 'NO NO' that cost him is job. He basically said that the Packers are a losing team and that losing "sucks". After he was fired, he tweeted, #thankstwitter to Twitter. You tweeted that tweet not Twitter!

​Next we have, 'Roseanne Bar' and her famous tweet about a black politician looking like one of the planet of the apes characters - She was fired right afterwards.

Then we have, Justine Sacco, a publicist who took a trip to South Africa but before she arrived, she tweeted, "Going to Africa. Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!" The company she worked for found her tweet to be racist and let her go. Yeah, the company let her go because her Twitter activity reflected poorly on it. How is that company supposed keep its African customers after she posted such racist content in a public forum.

​Many of Tumblr's members are furious about this coming ban. I hold no opinion one way or another. I feel this way because I am not affected by adult content whatsoever. Oh, every now and then, someone with the least amount of clothing they could possibly wear, shows up on the main board where one goes to browse the newest content.

That said, I'm wondering if Tumblr might be the next victim of angry frequent patrons to its site. Those people will be Tumblr's worse night mare. I read that fans of its adult content became fans because other social media such as Facebook for example, do not allow adult content. Now, where will they go? They ask!

I know someone who has experienced a constant flow of unwanted nudity on her Tumblr account. Maybe members like her are the reason Tumblr is cracking down on porn. Well, so long nudes and broods... Oh well!

Worried Your Facebook Account Has Been Cloned? Here's What to Know About

Here's how this new hoax works: 

A fake (fb) Facebook messenger account sends you a message stating that they received a request to add you again to their fb friends page. The only thing is, since you don't have another fb account, you worry and then follow the instructions to forward it to all of your fb friends list.

This article is highly suggesting that you do not forward this message because you'll be spreading the hoax.

Of course cloning does happen on fb; however, this is just an email scam that no one knows the purpose for it. The social media experts simply say to delete it. 

When others clone your account, they create a page that looks exactly like yours in order to trick your friends into giving them access into their accounts and then they steal passwords and other private information that could help them to steal someone's identity, bank account numbers, etc.

Facebook and Instagram now show how many minutes you use them

This new Facebook/Instagram feature might be just what us loyal social media fans was looking for. I'll pretend, for a moment anyways, that Facebook really cares about how family and friends communicate online. Well, I'm not saying that they don't care, but we all know that it's the bottom-line that means the most to all Social Media Websites.

There are plenty of people complaining about how social media corrupts good morals and causes mass shootings, etc. Don't Ask How! Like anything you do in life, you must do those things with balance. Otherwise, you'll find yourself frustrated enough to deactivate your SM and other potentially useful activities. 

This new SM feature will show you if you're spending an enormous amount of time being unproductive at work, school, or other place that needs your undivided attention. Hey!!! This information can save jobs!!!

I also spend a great deal of time socializing with family and friends on both Facebook and Instagram. Without social media helping me to keep in touch with them, I know our relationships would surely fail since most of us live so far away from each other. If we didn't have SM and instead talked on the phone that would work too except, who has that much time to talk to hundreds of family members one-to-one? I surely don't!

This situation actually happened when she, 'Alexa', was 18-years-old. So, yes, that was quite a few years back. However, that's irrelevant in light of the over all more important part of what she calls a 'Life Lesson'.

What's more important here isn't just that she and her brother were safe from possible kidnappers looking to hold them for ransom. No, what was more important is that she and her brother and the millions of other teens across the world were given a warning - like no other warning - of the dangers of the Internet. 

Her parents were elated of course that their kids and they were not stalked and harmed in some way from that ordeal.

Since this is a rich family, one could certainly understand their concerns for their safety. Yet, I ask myself, what about the fact that this family's very public position has on other people's children?

Shouldn't her father have made a statement something to the affect or about protecting his children and everyone else's as well? I guess that would be in a perfect world? 

We've become a nation of 'My self,  my family, my kids'. According to Bloomberg Businessweek,  

"Dell's father's security detail had her Twitter and Instagram accounts suspended. The article cited concerns over the family's safety, singling out fears of kidnapping for ransom." 

Also, Alexa stated how panicked she was to hear there are dangerous people looking to harm rich people like her and/or her family. And, I get that!  

My conclusion:

If only rich families could think about the future of the next generation. Think about how their activities could not only bring harm to themselves but how they could inadvertently help criminals to harm millions of others such as innocent teens who follow their kids on instagram or some other social media. 

It was troubling to read what he (her father) said about his family's safety without any regards to the many youth who own 'Dells' or could have been affected by all of this. I found it weird that he thinks protecting our nation's youth, as a whole, are not in the least bit important enough to mention their safety.

After all, they are usually the ones who follow rich kids like his. They want to be rich too one day. So, they mimic rich kids' behavior as best they can. 

Rich families have a moral obligation to be an example to future generations.

Facebook blasphemy: Pakistani man sentenced to death for speaking against the Prophet Mohammad

I am trying to understand what Muslims mean when they say that Westerners think their religion is not as peaceful as they lead us to believe.

Well, this news article is one prime example of Western opinion about this 'Peaceful Religion'. It isn't difficult to comprehend how one could arrive at the thought of the opposite of peace when one is told that people are killed for coming against a specific religious leader!

Especially, those people who do the actual execution of infidels they are not "Terrorist" but government officials such as the ones whom are represented in this news article. 

I ask this one question then, if your religion is so peaceful, why do you kill your own people for speaking the wrong things? After all, words can't kill people, people kill people!

When countries stop killing people based on something they've said, then just maybe Westerners, like myself, will stop thinking of them as 'Not Peaceful' but instead, they are without mercy!

​Facebook Tweaks 'Trending Results' Page After Controversy

As many of you may remember the fiasco late last year 2016 that surrounded the presidential campaign; where Facebook was accused of using its 'Trending' feature that spewed out biased anti-conservative fake news! 

Well, In January 2017, Facebook rushed and made drastic changes to that system and rid itself of thousands upon thousands of fake news accounts and eliminated predetermined list of publications that used to be eligible to appear in the Trending Results page. 

Now, Facebook has taken its trending system even further by updating how it will run this new system: 

Facebook says that this new 'Trending Results' feature will include publications that users aren't normally interested in. 

Some Facebook users hate it when FB makes so many changes to its system; especially in short amount of times.

I kind of agree with those people about those frequent changes because once I get used to a FB feature, I get real irritated with this social media network and feel like pulling my account when, without good reasoning and a well-in-advance-warning, they take that feature away. It's frustrating!

The trending feature is a convenient tool for businesses like mine that utilizes social media news for their websites or in their daily business practices.

It also helps those FB users who must keep up with what's happening around the world do so all throughout the day.

Marketers Sound Off as Facebook Closes Oculus Story Studio

Facebook as shuttered its Oculus Story Studio which was created to make content for its Virtual Reality Oculus headset. 

Facebook is closing the studio to concentrate more on smartphone based augmented reality features, implying that virtual reality isn't as popular as originally thought to be. 

Naturally after Facebook shared its decision about Oculus and VR headsets and such, the Market and agencies took notice and had adverse reactions; those reactions were filled with concern for the future of VR. Some voiced concerns as to whether this was the end of VR, remarks Craig Elimeliah, managing director of creative technology at agency VML, which has worked on virtual reality campaigns for brands like Gatorade and NAPA Auto Parts.

I for one wanted to experience Oculus VR Headset, I just have not felt the need to pursue my interest enough to warrant such a purchase.

But, the whole idea of looking at myself playing tennis and kicking butt via virtual reality sounds like a lot of fun...

Facebook has shown that it can take a stand when needed. I have to say, "I am impressed with Facebook for shutting down 30,000 of its fake pages. 

Now FB, please do that in the United States. So many of my friends have sent me messages telling me to not add them again if I see a friend request from them because that's a fake account someone set up of them.

Also, I've come across fake FB pages of my friends. I've encountered quite a few doubled friends' FB pages and immediately contacted them and enquired whether they are the ones who set those pages up, or a scammer did it. Only a handful of those particular friends had created duo accounts.

Of the handful of my FB friends who started new accounts, most did it because they were locked out of the original account for various reasons. Some of those reasons were, they forgot there passwords and couldn't get the questions right in order to be let back in. Others changed accounts after theirs was hacked and they were not computer savvy enough to fix the issue and just let the hackers have the page. 

Then there are people like me! I have at least four FB pages. I set them up years ago and barely use any of them. I use one for my business that I hardly ever login to but use my company's Facebook Fan Page instead. The other pages I started to play an old game called Cafe World where I had four different large Cafe's. Boy do I miss Cafe World!!!

Lastly, I get flustered every time go to the page of a person who's requesting a friend request to find that they do not have any friends or only a few of them and nothing posting on their timeline, and the nerve to have two images. I immediately mark those people as spam. I don't buy it for a minute that I'm their first Facebook friend.

YouTube has finally made plenty of its advertisers so angry, they've pulled their ads from YouTube Creator Channels.

One advertiser, 'Hyundai' advertised during the Super Bowl last month in honor of US troops did just that, pulled advertising from YouTube after that same video was made to run during a Hezbollah YouTube video.

There is 'Good News' though! YouTube has promised to develop stronger tools to help advertisers avoid controversial YouTube videos.

I don't know why this news of Russian spies comes as a surprise to me. It seems like it is right out of a Russian Spy movie with the Kremlin and all that. 

Oh sure, they (the Russians) want it to seem like the persons involved with hacking Yahoo email accounts was a lone-wolf operative, "I'm not buying this" and the government had nothing to do with the hacking.

I bet America is full of spies and double agents! :D! I guess this makes me a conspiracy theorist! Oh well, I've watched enough spy movies to know that they get those ideas from some place. Those ideas come from real life spy stories former spies, moles (double agents), and CIA and FBI former agents. 

I just got an image in my mind. I pictured mice. That's right, 'mice'! The saying goes like this, "If you think you saw a mouse in your house \(*.*)7, chances are, you've seen a different mouse every time. 

Mice send out a scout to scout the place out and then send in others one at a time until they've inundated the place. But you only visually see one! The rest are hiding in cracks and crevices, pipes and furnaces, walls, etc. You get the point!

​Yahoo is making its email customers nervous because it won't tell us if we will be losing our Yahoo accounts. Some of us have had our accounts for a decade and longer. I have had my personal Yahoo account for twelve years.

This article on the other hand, only briefly mentioned this particular part of Yahoo email.

What the article mainly refers to are customers who have asked Yahoo to delete their accounts to which Yahoo has obliged but took 90 days to do so. One customer became frustrated after his account wasn't deleted even after 90 days - that's because he logged in and reset the deleting process.
